Krzysztof Wodiczko’s “homeless Vehicle"1988

     I don't really know how i feel about this. I don't know if Wodiczko’s creation is good or bad. I mean it could potentially be good because it looks better than a shopping cart like most homeless people have. This could be bad because even tho it helps the homeless we don't need them getting comfortable on the streets. It is not good to be homeless, and if they don't mind living in one of these homeless vehicles then why would they ever wanna find a job or a house when they are comfortable where they are?

Chester Arnold Analysis Paper

Wrath

            I want to the Nevada Museum of Art, and while I was there I viewed Chester Arnolds’ exhibit. This man had lots of interesting paintings. The painting I have decided to talk about is called Landscape with the Fall of Icarus. I was drawn to this painting right away. This painting has a lot going on. In the middle of the canvas there is a giant mountain, and to the right of it there is a two-lane road with traffic trying to make it over the mountain. Also there is a team of miners coming to destroy the mountainside. There is also a plane that has crashed into the side of the mountain. Finally in the distance you can see other cities. I have learned from the artists notes that he modeled this painting after the tower of babble. In the Story of the tower of babble human cultures created the tower to exalt man-kind instead of God. Because they have not exalted God they were punished. God leveled the tower and spread the cultures throughout the world. This is a very interesting paining in many ways. Arnold likes to use modern civilization and reference religion in a lot of his works. This painting also depicts another story. He uses the plane crash in the side of the mountain as a representation of the story of Icarus, a young Greek boy who flies to close to the sun because he is excited about his new wings.

            I thoroughly enjoyed going to the art museum. Chester Arnold is a really talented artist. My opinion about the Landscape with the Fall of Icarus is that I loved it. I like how Arnold takes a famous story and creates a modern look with it. The way that Arnold creates a painting with two different stories is a really unique idea. I enjoyed this work of art because his art has an honest feel to it. I do not know much about art at all and this painting has a lot going on. I chose the title Wrath for this work because depicts the wrath of God on his people. God is giving wrath to his people because they are not giving him glory and they are destroying what he has made for them. I like how Arnold modernized the story of Icarus by using a plane crash to depict what happened in the young boy’s life. All in all I enjoyed this painting very much and I look forward to viewing more of Chester Arnolds exhibits.
